Five-Year BA/MA Degree Program Option. Studies who choose to minor in Latin American Studies have the opportunity to pursue a joint BA/MA program in conjunction with the Center for Latin American Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. This program allows outstanding students interested in Latin America to begin work toward an interdisciplinary master´s degree in Latin American Studies while still undergraduates at Wake Forest, and to complete both degrees within a five-year period. The bachelor of arts degree is awarded by Wake Forest, while the master´s degree is awarded by Georgetown. See pages 71 and 169 of the bulletin for complete details. Study Abroad in the Southern Cone.
Wake Forest University´s newest adventure abroad will allow students the opportunity to explore the fascinating Southern Cone of Latin America, visiting and studying in both Chile and Argentina. Although students will spend the majority of time in Santiago studying at the Universidad Diego Portales, the Wake Forest faculty member travelling with the group will lead the students on excursion and immersion trips to Buenos Aires, Valparaiso, Easter Island, Patagonia, and San Pedro de Atacama, amongst many others. Students can earn approximately fifteen credit hours, taking classes in the areas of Spanish, Political Science, and Business. The program commences in the spring semester of 2011.
